New here, 300zx owner

Recently aquired a 300zx 1992 2+2 auto. It was real clean when i bought im hoping to enjoy it for a long time but i can tell already it needs some work.
When ever it idles sitting still the car eventually dies, also when ever i turn on lights ect other things (lights) seem to get a bit dimmer on the dash board.
Any idea's where i should start ?

CHeck your spark plugs. if dirty replace. Lights go dim ? alternator problem just go to auto zone and have them do a alternator check. Hope some of this helps. while at autozone get only NGK iridium spark pluhs makes a huge differance than cheep spark plugs.

NGK Platinums are universally recommended in the knowledgeable Z32 world. There is no real benefit to iridium in this car.

PFR6G-11 for his non-turbo.

And I 2nd having the alternator looked at.

So i got off the phone with the dealership that sold me my car. They told me oil leaks on nissan engines are common and that even if it were to be fixed it would come back in 3 months how true is this ?
(He said it was a leaky valve cover)

Not to sound mean. But you can not get NGK at Auto Zone. I know, I have tried before for my 280zx. NGKs are at Checker Auto Parts. Or online places, like Rockauto.com. Just thought I would point that out.

And the original grade NGKs work fantastic. I never saw a need to get the more expensive iridium ones.

I just realized that you asked this in here. In the future, don't start new threads for things that can all be discussed in one thread - it's annoying.
