na ecu upgrade

na ecu upgrade

hey guys i got a friend who's telling me about an ecu upgrade from japan bout for $2500 and gives me 100hp gain......now if it true or not i would like to no what u guys think bout upgrading my ecu... keeping in mind mine is an N/A manual, completely stock,...... let me no what u guys think

lol Search, dude.

Twin Turbos get about 100hp from intake + exhaust + ECU.

Non-turbos get a raised rev limiter... and hardly anything else. Maybe a couple horsepower from an ECU.

And you can get a Specialty Z or ZTuner chip for a couple hundred dollars. JWT chips are ~$680. Chips from Japan won't even work properly on our fuel.

yah he also told me bout that site, in witch i did do some research but not a whole lot... ok so f the japan chip.

im just looking to get a little more hp out of it without having to spend so much in it.....yet. im looking into a pop charger, exhaust, and possibly a chip. what do u think? i no, i no, i should just sell it and get a tt but kinda ina budget rite now.

There is a writeup on this forum about modifying an NA... intake, exhaust, and ECU are the basic mods that everyone does, so that's a good start.

ok so i looked into jim wolf chips more throughly and sound pretty bad *** the only thing i was trying to find out for myself before asking was cal or fed... wasn't sure. im pretty sure there talking bout emissions. im in california would that be ca lol.... or fed?

It depends on where your car was initially sold.

And talk to Specialty Z if you're in Cali... their chips do the same stuff (in many ways better), and cost less. And they can tell you if your car is Cali or Federal emissions.

JWT's prices were reasonable back when they were the only player in the game. Competition drove the price down, and JWT apparently decided not to obey the ways the market impacts price.
