Misfire/ECU
My son and I just traded his sportbike for a fair condition 90 300zx n/turbo.
(I'm happy to get him off that bike he scared the crap out of me) I didn't care what the car ran like just do the the trade. We got it home and found it has a miss in the #1 cylinder I have swapped coils and still misses in #1, swapped the plug as well.check the power transistor unit for continuity all the way to the plug and checked ok. Scan tech don't show cylinder 1 as a malfunction. Any ideas where to go from here? |

How do you know cyl #1 is misfiring? |
I pulled the coil pack and put a plug in it layed it on the motor and got no spark. Just pulling the connector to the coil pack makes no difference in the motor operation.

Test the resistance of the injector - 90 Z32's have injectors that are prone to failure with the use of ethanol-blended fuels.
Should be 10-14ohms. And if it's bad, don't half-ass it and just replace one (especially not with some non-name-brand ebay garbage) - you'll just open up a can of worms with more failures to come. Replacing all six with the newer style injectors is imperative for prevention... there is a member on TwinTurbo.NET named Bernie who sells the entire conversion kit with used injectors for something like $500 or $600. |
