just got my first z ...... lovin it!!
ive been wanting a z as long as i can remember. i finally got one today. i have tried to be patient and get a good deal. let me tell you what i got and you can let me know what you think.
1996 300zx tt
greddy turbo timer
blitz(i think) blow off valves
custom down pipes
hks full exhaust 3 inch all the way back (no cats)
5 spd
engine has been very well taken care off. totaly cleaned inside and out.
new heads
new stock injectors
stage 3 clutch
huge intercoolers
dual intakes
dynod at 425 hp last month
i paid 16900. but the car drives like brand new. 4th gear scratches at 90mph.
just out of curiosity, how do you tell the production number from the vin. i was told it is the last three digits on the 96's and there were only 300 made. my last 3 digits are 466, what gives?

Sounds sweet! Post some pics and give us some more details. What color? etc. Did you forget to mention that it had an aftermarket ecu? There's no way that it's making 425 (i'm guessing that's at the crank) w/o an ecu and up'd boost. How many miles? Sounds like one sweet Z! Congrats and welcome. I think you'll find a lot of info on this forum and feel free to ask any questions you have.

Oh, I forgot before...
J, what they told you is wrong. Nissan numbered the last 300 cars brought to the country, but in fact they sold about 4000 units in 1996. Your car could be car #466. Probably built late in 1995. My 90 N/A is car #1030, built in March of 1989. Again, congrats, enjoy the car.

yes it does have an upgraded ecu. ( i had to dig through all the reciepts he gave me to make sure.
this guy bought the car in april of last year and spent a little more than ten grand on the car and sold it to me for 33 bucks less than he originally bought it for.
it is putting 425 to the ground according to the dyno slip he gave me. im taking up there next week to dyno it again just to make sure.
as far as the stereo goes all it has is a basic kenwood head unit and looks like factory speakers. ive got a jl audio w7-10 sitting in the garage with a jl 500/1 and a jl 300/4 with clarion components and a clarion dvd/mp3/cd flip out touch screen with this cars name on it. im going to get started on the install next week.
i plan on a body kit probobly the vs or the stillen.
also i am planning to get blitz technospeed z-1 18's
its got plenty of power so thats good tor now.

Now THAT is a clean Z! The interior is immacualte and the body looks straight as ever. Great car! Your system's sounds like it's gonna be kicking pretty hard. IMO th evs kit looks like a catfish and isn't a favorite, but to each his own. The stillen is a pretty nice kit. As is the 99 jspec...see Rizz's avadar.

yeah and that aluminum look on your dash...how does it look? stillen used to make real dashes out of carbon fiber, and you cannot get those anywhere anymore...all you can get now are stickers like that.

its got right over 90,000.
as far as the dash goes i like the aluminum look, but this is an old dash kit from the looks of it. you can tell because it has a brownish tint to it. it isnt very noticable, i had to point it out to my wife.
ive been running it pretty hard to make sure it doesnt have any hidden bugs and so far nothing. my mechanic says the only thing he noticed on it was a strut going bad,no middle o2 sensor on the exhaust, and needs new belts because it hasnt been driven in a while andthey started to dry rot. aside from that it has a clean bill of health. the only problem ive had are irratic boost fluxuasions( check in performance area for my post in that)
