Here are the vehicles that the vg33 came in.

96-00 pathfinder vg33e
99-02 quest vg33e
00-03 frontier vg33e
01-04 xterra vg33e

01-04 frontier vg33er

It wasn't a der either. "d" meaning DOHC. The "r" is for the supercharger.

Here is a interesting --->>> NISSAN ENGINE MATRIX

even after you've (not) managed to get the internals balanced well enough to support 10,000 RPM you will have to fabricate your own ignition. You could probably use a bike ignition for that. I know a car one would float at the RPM.

There was this kid at WWU who had a riced honda. He was telling this girl that he 'ported' it by hand so it could handle the extra RPM. She was totally buying it till I walked up. I asked him to start it up, he said he couldn't he was letting the turbos (yep, plural) spool down. This girl is in my PoliSci class, so I'd seen her before. I asked him what kind of ignition he was using as per my argument above and he said he couldn't tell me, it wasn't released yet. I asked him again later and he said it was GREDDY lol. this sounds like a similar situation (just the not understanding the lack of benefits at 10k, not the river), Just in case heres a link

EDIT: I have a feeling I didn't read correctly/everything. Assume that I did then disregard anything under the new context that makes no sense.

Its late

Yeah I hate that. Living in Humboldt county doesn't really help that either. It's hard to find someone that isn't full of sh@t. It's all about "bling-bling" and all that BS. I even heard of people putting radio transmitters in their MAF to confuse the computer, making "AT LEAST 10 HP", that's what I deal with when I talk to some of the locals. There is a ignition system that is called the splitfire DLI for th Z. It is able to withstand Higher RPM blowout and the like. And again, I stand correted by ZLover, 10,000 is ridiculous.
