I need opinions from Z owners....
I need opinions from Z owners....
I am in need of some very well thought out advice. not just the average Z lover that will just automatically say "do it"....
I am inheriting my grandfathers 1971 ford f100 from my father. My grandfather bought it brand new and had it for all but 20 of the original 157k miles. My earliest childhood memories were in this very truck watching trains go by in Kansas. However my girl lost her job and we need i am using the only vehicle we have. So i faced with selling/trading the truck for a second vehicle. An offer was made and i am quite inclined to take it but also hesitant. So i will now list the info on the car and my truck, What do the Z owners think?
1971 Ford F100 custom, lwb
360, 4 on the floor, matching #s
runs and drives,
about a 7 out of 10 on the restoration
OR
1992 300zx Twin Turbo
97k miles, rebuilt trans from local Z shop
many upgrades, turbo, coolers, piping, i mean she is clean on the engine
BUT, needs a wheel bearing repalce, clutch replaced, Retune on the ECU, and timing belts changed
now i can manage doing the bearing myself, and have asked the owner if they could do the timing belt change.. but is it really worth it? i know most TTs go for 7-10k+.. she needs a paint job too.
If anymore details are wanted please let me know...

^+1 on keeping the truck. Those things are practically bulletproof. And can take a beating. I am not a Ford fan personally. But I can't knock how a lot of them are tough as nails. For sure, keep the truck, the Z will kill your wallet.
And welcome to Zdriver man. Maybe when you are better financially, you can pick up a Z. I would worry about getting more on your feet. And then think about a sportscar. Good luck man.

I wish i could. the guy is selling it for 4200, but i have made my decision. I am keeping the truck. I would regret giving up something so meaningful from my life.
As far as the truck, yes it is bulletproof. 157k and never rebuilt in 40 years. i will try to include a picture of "Red" in the post. I have always dreamed of having a TT, but alas i do need to get on my feet first. Thanks guys for your support and i think i might stick around the forum a while... Who knows? i might be able to find one and fix her up myself..
