I would start with the maintenance. I just got a 90TT and am getting the timing belt done, front brakes done, radiator flushed, fluids changed and so on, you want it to run right before you start modifying anything. Once that's out of the way, then you can start with the basics that was mentioned.
I would save up and get a TT
Cause by the time you start working on mods and things of that nature you'll have about the same amount of money invested and could have had a tt.
And the TT will still prolly be faster
Just my 2 cents worth.

Why not save up the extra for a twin turbo ..... turbos can (generally and more easily) be made to go fast than an N/A enging and you can have ur kewl PSSSSSHHHHTT between gear shifts
I don't know how well an N/A goes but my dad owned a 91TT for a while and that went pretty damn fast with a filter and larger exhaust.

by the way, I had a 91 NX2000 that ran with an NA, although the NA might pull away above 120, I know my SE-R will hang with an NA Z up til about 120. I got my 90TT for 10 grand with only 67K on it, 5 speed of course. If your patient, you will find your TT at an affordable price, just put aside some money for surprises.

Re: I need The info from you guys
always start off with the small stuff, get your injectors cleaned, intake cleaned, any almost bad parts replaced, change all fluids, inspect brakes and anything else you can think off then go on to your K&N filter mod, exhaust mod, performace plugs and plug wires, higher power ingnition coil, short throw shifter, body stylng, and anything else small you can think of. Then go for your larger stuff performance trans, seat and other larger interior stuff( carpets, tweed wraps, etc,), suspension mods, tires and rims, if you get a tt larger turbos and intercoolers, computer upgrades, yopu get the idea but from day one you can do your cosmetic stuff like decals, shifter *****, wire coloring, chroming, etc. oops sorry i kinda get carried away with these sort of thing but anyway you get the idea START SMALL.

This 52 year old 300ZX owner has a different perspective on what you need to do to your first ride. I agree with 900rrguy. Do all of the things he suggested. It will take care of your investment, and you'll be able to enjoy the car for a lot longer. Give some thought to leaving the car stock and maintaining it as necessary in all areas. At resale time, whenever that comes, there will be far more people interested in looking to buy a stock, original vehicle. Just check with the buyers of antique cars to cars to see what I'm referring to. If you must modify it in some way (upgraded stereo, new wheels & tires, new intake system, etc.) keep the old parts so the car can be returned to stock. It will increase the marketability of your vehicle, and if the new owner doesn't want the parts, as you can see from this forum, getting a buyer for them is not going to be a problem. Welcome to the 300ZX fraternity! Enjoy the ride, whichever way you choose to go.
