hey you smog people

i live out in the sticks where we are not required to be checked for smog, and if we are, well.. it just doesn't happen. so a potential buyer wants to have the car checked before he buys it. soooo. i'm not sure if the o2 sensors are good or not, BUT: i've just gotten 23 MPG. so, questions are, for you people that have had smog tests done before, does very good gas mileage suggest that i'm likely to pass the smog? and two, if i get the test done, and fail it, i'm stuck with the car, but, having failed it, will they stick a sticker on the car or revoke my inspection or something?

BTW, hey guys! sorry i haven't been on much! i'm completely obsorbed in trying to get this car sold and working a ton and also researching the motorcycle purchase that will be happening right after this car is sold.

good economy is usually an indication that all your emission controls are working well. the only way to know is to get it tested, though honestly that's kinda crappy that the buyer is making you do that.

I'm moving from Utah back to NJ so I have to get mine emission tested as well. I was also getting great mileage but we shall see!

Oh and no, if you fail for emissions your registration can't be revoked even if your county requires emission testing. you have until the registration expires to get it fixed, and if your county doesn't have emission testing it doesn't matter how it tested.

right on. thanks much. i hope it passes then. i actually think the sensors are bad, but i also believe they are causing it to run slightly lean, rather than rich.
