Head work

Head work
Im looking for some suggestions reguarding head work. Im rebuilding my tt motor for at least 500+hp, hopefully close to 600hp and looking for advice. Ive rebuilt a few blocks in the past and am doing full forged internals on this one, but never worked on heads before. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
My biggest question is port work. What exactly should i have done? What i understand is these heads flow pretty well and not a lot of work is required for the numbers im hoping for. Any advice?
Are os valves worth the money? Looking into maybe going .5mm os. Are they a big improvement on stock cylinder bore?
Cam suggestions?
Thanks for any input.

I can tell you that looking for 500-600hp your best bet is to just get the heads refreshed with JWT 400+ cams and upgraded valve springs. I had my heads completely built with Ferrea 1mm os valves, in/ex ported, HD springs, JWT 400+ cams, the works... all not needed for that power range. Waste of money. Plus unless the machine shop really knows what they are doing, they can hinder the engine's performance.

I sent my heads to Z1 Motorsports, but they did a horrible job. Had to resend them to a local shop to correct the problem. I should have them back next week. Your best bet is to find a local machine shop with a good reputation and have the heads get a good 3 angle valve job, pressure check, check valve guides, replace valve seals, replace the valve springs with HD springs. If you have early model 300zx tt, the intake valves were weak and tend to "tulip" in the valve seat as mine did. I have a 90 tt. If so you will need new intake valves. I still suggest getting JWT 400+ cams with the upgrade.

Thanks for the advice. Ill look into local shops to see who has had experience with vg engines. Im replacing valves and doing a valve job either way so i dont get any sealing issues. Ill look into the jwt400 cams too.
