Good Evening

hey how you guys doing? Ive been a member of the forum for bout a month, havent been to active since school is insanly time consuming. So i thought id finally make a thread to greet everyone. Im starting to become a Z fanatic although i dont know much about these cars, im pretty eager to learn. And being a broke college student finding one of these is insanly hard to find.

So some advice is needed. I see many Z's go for sale that have 110, 120, and 130k where people say it runs likes its brand new. Well i know keeps teh car well maintained can take it a lonnnnng way. But are these engines long lasting? If i buy one that has 125k on it is it gonna die at 150? lol That is what worries me.

I also was speakin with somone who is peicing out his 300zx since he got into an accident. Also says he would sell it as a whole since its running. Engine and rear end are fine( drivetrain axle and all that) but the back end is well.....heres the pics

http://s145.photobucket.com/albums/r238/stunner126/

Am i waisting my time even talking to the guy? And any advice on serching for a used z32 would be much apprecaited. Since knowledge is so limited about most parts, all i really know is car audio and anything involved with that so if you have any question regarding that id be more than glad to help.

Sry for long post and all the spelling mistakes.

Yes, you're right about the maintenance issue - if the Z has been well-maintained, it can last many more miles. I know one guy who has 450K on his original engine (no overhaul or modifications), and it's still running great. I've owned Z's with up to 250K miles on the engines, with no problems whatsoever as to the engine itself.

As to the Z32 pix you posted a link to, I don't know what this guy is wanting for the entire car, but from what it looks like, the car is totaled. I dunno - just judging from the pix. If it is, then it might be a good parts car.

What are your plans? Were you thinking about buying that Z32 to restore, or just as a parts car?

unless you love the body shop that car would make a damn fine swap volunteer, pull everything that isnt bent/broken and put it on a shell with a good body..

with Zs, ya can either spend a lot in the initial investment and hope it runs well, or ya can buy a funny looking one that has sat around forever, dump in about 3-4k US dollas, and pray it runs well, or.............

hmmm... it is a twin turbo Z.... and if its in good shape, i would buy it... however how much is he thinking? oh yeha and that body.... the way crap is broken, im not gonna lie, i wouldnt put money into that thing... not one cent. but you could swap the motor tranny all that crap into an N/A thats cheap cuase of a blown motor or no motor something with a good body you know... but to make that a project... i would spen over 5k for EVERY THING.... for that car in the pick... i wouldnt let out more than 1k as a whole... but the guy if he is smart will know parting it will turn over better $$$ gains... so i think its a dead end.

That car is jacked. $4K is too much for it as well. It's a totalled TT. Probably some frame damage somewhere too. Are you looking for solely a TT? What's your budget? These are things we need to know. Where are you from?

look how the door lines up too, like the j30 its wrecked. it sticks out like the door frame is bent from impact. the back end is pretty bad to, but 4g's is too much for it, though...maybe like 1500.

if youre worried about the cost of maintenance of a Z, i would not look into buying a twin turbo. it is expensive if youre just taking care of it, but its an absolute money pit if youre a fanatic.

i would stick with an n/a for now if you dont have much to spend. you can find a good condition n/a with lower miles for 5-7k. expect to spend 10+ on a lower mileage twin turbo that doesnt need work at present or in the near future.

if you are mechanicly adept, you could do a TT swap, but it is a lot of work and time and money. if you have a shop install it, your looking at 3-4k for everything.

i would also not buy that wrecked Z. too expensive

sorry, honey.....ya pay more than 1200-1500 for one in that condition, you will truly wish you had argued him down to 1500 or less, or you wil wish you had savd some money for the repairs you will definitely need to do----look around--you will find all kinds of deals for under 2k---and some of them do nopt need 2k repairs

Budget is about 5-7k And im located in fresno ca.
