A friendly reminder: EFI Harness

A friendly reminder: EFI Harness
Im sure many of you don't know about this, but Nissan is discontinuing the EFI harness for certain years. Here are the years that are discontinued:
1993 TT AT, 1993 TT MT Cali, 1994 TT AT/MT, 1995 TT AT/MT
If you are like me your harness and connectors are getting old and brittle. They will not last forever so I recommend that everyone get theirs now before they are all discontinued. Even the ones that are not discontinued are on backorder. Check out www.conceptzperformance.com. They have a list of what all is discontinued and on backorder. It is $350 for the entire harness. AMZ Performance carries them too I believe. Just thought I would let everyone know.

I called Courtesy Z about this and they confused the hell outta me. They said the main harness starts at $700 and works it's way up from there. They told me I need to find the label sticker on the existing harness so that they can get me the right one. Butch @ Courtesy told me that the ones that are sold for $350 over the internet are partial harnesses. When you look at the one from Concept Z and AMZ, it looks like they sell the complete harness going all the way back to the ECU. What's the deal? I don't need to go back to the ECU. I want to replace all of the coil pack connectors, fuel injector connectors, IACV, etc. Pretty much everything in the engine compartment is what I'd like to change. All of the wires appear to be in perfect working order. Anyone able to shed some light on this subject?

You can buy the connectors separate. I have seen them on the courtesy site and concept z site. On Courtesy's site you have to buy a set of 4(coil pack connectors) which doesn't make much sense. CZP has them in sets of 3. CZP sells injector connectors also in sets of 3. The $350 harness should be the entire assembly, I don't know what Butch is talking about.

That's what I thought. I think I'll wait to put in a complete wire harness for when I do decide to do an engine rebuild; which may be never. I would only do that if it were to blow up.

I was looking through the factory service manual. These cars have so many different harnesses. I'm looking for the EFI. The Main harness is different. It connects all of the different harnesses to the ECU. There's also an alternator harness, door harness, engine room harness, back door harness and 2 body harnesses. If you want more info, check out pages EL 116 - EL 133 in the manual.

This may be a stupid question, but can the EFI harness be replaced with the engine still in the car? How big of a b*tch is it? I'll look tonight, buit has anyone here done it? The EFI harness has ll of the connectors I want to change (coils, injectors, coolant temp, IACV, etc.). I sent an e-mail to Concept Z asking about some specifics and that I was looking to splice the connectors since the engine isn't coming out of the car. I got a response back saying not need to splice just cahnge the whole harness and your done. Gee, thanks,.....that was helpful,...I never could've figured that out my own.

LOL easier said than done. Yes the engine has to be out to change it although I have heard other people say that they have done it with just the transmission out. I mean it would be better to do it all because Im sure the wires are getting brittle also. It wouldn't be a fun task either way but if I were you I would just go ahead and get the whole thing. Up to you though. I bought the connectors also for a temporary fix until I can have the whole thing replaced. The EFI harness is what I bought BTW here http://www.conceptzperformance.com/C...pe=NIS300&UID=

Well isn't that special.
Dude-
Have you received yours yet? If so, then help me out...can you lay it out and take a picture of it. Could you unwind it the best you can so I can see what i'll be dealing with. The picture on Concept Z's website makes it difficult to determine where it starts and stops. Thanks.

It looks like it goes through the firewall directly dehind the EGR valve. Since I'll have the lower plenum off, I should be able to run it into the cabin. It won't be the easiest thing, but I think I can do it. I'll try to get the lower plenum off this weekend. I have to take the damn timiing cover off. I almost need to do all the same work as when I replaced the timing belt. It'll be easier putting it back together since I'll be putting in the electric fan. Yea, no more fan clutch. I may have esomeone chrome my upper and lower water pipes. Maybe my lower radiator tube also. It'll be purdy.

That's pretty much a given. It looks awful now. As I'm taking it apart, I keep finding things that were put back together half-assedly by the shop that put on the GTZ-R front bumper. For example....the passenger side front bumper mount (justs inside the fog light) was missing 1 of the 3 main bolts. Some of the bolts that attach the bumper to the fender were stripped out. Some of the bolts inside the bumper and fender (near the intercoolers) that hold hardware in place were missing. Just another reason why I don't let anyone else work on it.
