hi, ng--so, you have one of the z32 na type z's, eh?? i have 1 na and 2 turbo z31's. the na is fun, but the turbos are waaaayyyyy funner!! welcome. have fun learning here--you will learn a lot. might get a little razzing, but that's all in good fun and frolic.

Looking to get more into road or i think its autocross. there was a group of older guys with there vettes that would get to gether and race in a big parking lot that was temp turnd into a track where i used to live. wasnt old enough to get into it then though. not so much competitive drag racing but i wouldnt pass up a day at the strip.i've done full exhause headers to the mufflrs alum fly wheel one piece drive shaft cold air and i have and afc neo that i would like to get hooked up and dyno tuned but dont know any of the shops in town either. ignorance is bliss isnt it

I find my slightly lower RWHP offsets the higher maint costs of a turbo in the fun area Money is fun too.

slightly? under 200rwhp compared to 400+rwhp.....not even close....you're talking fast car vs. mediocre power outputs.

Under 200? It turned 230 at the rear wheels with new airfilters and an oil change a couple years back when I tossed it on the dyno just for giggles. We were checking out the car my dad and his buddies were building for Boneville, now TYHAT bastard cranked out a cool 731.....it was insane, but that's what 80k in engine gets you....

Anywhoo....under 200? Since when? Now granted, 230 isn't throwing me back in the trunk when I jump on it but my car is far from mediocre.

230? how? theres no way if youre completely stock. heavily modded n/as dont even get to 230rwhp
a good condition stock n/a should be in the low 190s

OK, I don't know what kind of dyno you were testing on, but I assure you, it was incorrect. the STock specs for an NA (AT THE FLYWHEEL!) is 222hp. There's no way you have more than what a perfect condition motor would have at the flywheel at the wheels. No way. Like b300z, 190s is typical for a GOOD running NA. IF you have 230rwhp, I'd like to see what kind of motor you have in your NA. I garuntee it's not a stock VG30DE.

Oh boy what have i started i was just lookng to get into racing not open a dark burning rift between the na and tt owners there is no debate that the tt is can produce big number better thn the na thats forced induction for ya any engine can make good nums using turbos or sc'rs because of the huge increase in valumetric efficientcy. so tt na what ever we all still drive a Z and that puts us in a class of our own!

you smell that...smells cheezy

you sure? Might want to do your research.

I thought we were talking about the foot pounds of torque. But yeah and i thought those numbers were to the flywheel.

yes, 222hp to the flywheel. There's no way that you could dyno 230hp to the wheels when the specs are 222hp to the flywheel. Due to drivetrain loss, you'll always lose hp when going from the flywheel to the wheels.

ugh^^^ the only advantage to front wheel drive...which is why they made mid engine cars....whihc in turn are incredibly hard to work on

I dunno and belive me I'm not trying to use this as some sort of "mines bigger than yours" thing. I'm just stating what I know to be as accurate as what I saw personally. Kinda wish I had kept the ticket from the dyno now....oh well.

As for my engine, it's as stock as it gets for a 13 year old car. Some parts have been replaced but nothing in the "performance" field to be sure. I suppose I could take a picture of my engine once I get it cleaned

Bottom line is I love what I drive
