Differential Oil
How often should it be replaced? for future reference.
Because I just did it the other day (simple enough). And as far as I know, it has never been changed, th ecar has around 155,800 or so-ish Mobil1 75w90 |
30,000 miles is what I've always been told.
|
thanks:038:, I couldn't seem to find a maintenence reference to it.
|
I change it every other Oil Change . (basically every time i change spark plugs) its cheap and easy. why not?

Haha, I don't know where you guys have heard to change it that often... Basic maintenance says every 60-80k or so. Doesn't need to be done often at all, changing it with every other oil change is a waste of money. And why would you change your spark plugs every 6,000 miles? Right on the car it says platinum tipped should be changed every 60k, a simple check every now and then should be fine.

bard probably picked that up wasteful habit from zwrecker. |
Apparently I should have explained myself a bit better when I said 'overkill'.

Myself I use platinums, change em every 70k or so and change my synthetic oil every 7500 or so. Depends on color of oil and engine performance really. If I start to hear more noise from the engine bay than normal I'll change it earlier. |
ummmmmm
wait, are you saying you DON'T change your spark plugs every other oil change?:075:

Ok, now you are saying you get 'z' rated and above tires to last more than 20k miles????? what world do you live in, or is it your grandmother driving your Z?:unibrow: |

Southern California. We've got this stuff called pavement and concrete, usually it's nice and smooth. Plus my wife won't let me go to the track.....I'm abused. I can usually get around 55,000 miles out of my tires if I rotate them regularly and keep the PSI in check. Not running over screws helps too....picked up my 3rd one last month, same damn tire too. |

This crap keep sup Im going to have to garage the Z and get a Prius or something equally gay...I mean...fuel efficient. No, I meant gay. |

I TRY to do the speed limit....I really do...but I start work at 5am and work weekends so the 91 is usually clear and...well...damnit...ITS NOT MY FAULT!!
Ok, it totally is but getting to work is just so damn boring, speed is all I have to liven it up :D One of these days I'll have the cash to buy a more sensible daily driver and then the Z can fall under the "project car" header. Until then, *shrug* I just deal. Sure is fun to watch heads turn with the tops off too. Got a thumbs-up from a guy driving a ford GT-40 the other day, I'll take it as a compliment. |
look on the bright side
I get about 15k to 20k on my tires, no rotation cuase that would look silly on a TT (also unsafe). With Gas up to 3.55$ gal. for premium its about 48$ to fill up, used to be just over 30$. If it goes up much more I am going to have to sit home while I just think about going out more...Movies cost nearly 10$ at the theater now...when did that happen? Rent went up 5%... What the hell is going on!!!!
Oh the bright side, we might be able to convince chicks to help pay for gas on dates now... |
