To buy or not to buy a z-
I own a 2009 dodge charger and owned a 2004 cobra - but I always had my heart set on those beutiful 300zx's -well I found one for sale near me for only 1grand- 1990 na 2+2 300zx- manual with 177k miles- and blue interior and blue exterior
the body is ok- no big dents or crash damage- but the usual 19 year old wear and tear- the owner says the only problem is the heater hose is ripped- and he said I can drive it home if I just tape it up ( I live 10 mins away)-
he says the hose is like 25 bucks and a couple hundred for labor-
Should I buy this z and fix it up? Or is this problem a money pit?
Thanks guys.

A grand for a running Z isn't a bad deal, but ultimately it comes down to how you feel about it. If it was a Twin Turbo, I'd say jump on it... I'm just not into buying non turbos, especially if they need work... but if you're more interested in the look, have at it. I'd recommend a coupe though... 2+2s look bloated the more and more you look at them compared to 2+0s.

More liked by midgets and people with small children, perhaps. It looks disproportionate to anybody who looks at enough Z32s... it's 8" too long, the quarter windows are too big, etc. Not to mention, they didn't come turbo in the United States.
No, they don't have a history of heater hose problems... replace it with a good quality rubber hose and you'll probably never have to touch it again... but I'd recommend replacing all of them at once so you don't have to go through it again.

yeah sounds like a good deal, but think of this: it's going to be slower than your charger in a strait line. n/a's are not stupid fast, and they don't even have the potential to get there without a very costly turbo swap. if you can deal with that, then i guess you like it enough lol.
other big thing about the z32's is that they are almost 20 years old, so things do go wrong, and parts are VERY expensive. if you drive it a lot, it will break you in repair costs even if you do the work yourself. well, it might break you. it is a reliable car, but you never know. some have had work done already and not been assembled with the greatest care, it might be high mileage, it might be about to rust. i guess you know all this though. just talking.

you've got to say though, nissan, on this car, did one of the best cover ups of a lengthening that the car industry has ever seen. it does take a bit of visual training to be able to spot a 2+2. i'm always impressed at how much they did lengthen it compared to how little difference there is in the outside.

Untrained eyes.
I can spot a 2+2 as soon as I determine a car off in the distance is a Z32 and I see virtually any of the side of it. The area of the hatch directly above the rear wheel and the quarter glass are simply too large. But yes, compared to other 2+2 renditions of cars (260Z, 280Z, 280ZX, 300ZX Z31), the Z32 is a far better job.

for 1k its a steal but its NA.... and you never know how many little problems to expect on these.
Id say the 4 seater is more desireable, definitly the more practical car and **** all asthetic difference! Nobody really cares. + 4 seater handles better its the chassy Nissan built there race cars off. They did come turbo as a 4 seater in Japan

If youve ever seen the back seat of a 2+2 you wouldnt say its more practical.
Zlover, I have a 2+2, im not a midget, nor do I have kids and I like it. But ill agree and say look for a coupe, I wish I had picked up a 2 seater but I really wanted this color and I got it with 58k for $6000, so I couldnt really pass up the deal.
All in all, im happy with the 2+2 but Id be SLIGHTLY happier with a 2 seater.
for a grand, if the interior is good condition, you could possible make more just by parting the car out.

Stick with what you like. After having owned a 280Z 2+2, a 280ZX 2+2, and driven a 300ZX Z31 2+2, the 90s 300ZX Z32 2+2 actually looks pretty darn good. It's all about opinion. There are people that prefer the 2+2 over the regular 2-seater. Obviously as people bought them. The N/A Zs aren't as fast as the turbo cars, but they're still plenty of fun to drive. For a grand you aren't spending too much. Maybe you'll really like it, maybe you won't and want to sell it. You can for the most part get your money back out of it.

You are wrong Dude, I have an original 2+2 Twin turbo !!!!! It is right hand drive and I did import it myself, but they made them !!!!

he was obviously referring to the ones that americans would most commonly buy.
