Altered suspension coil overs
Altered suspension coil overs
I am looking to buy a nice 91 2+2 but it has coilovers and I want just the stock suspension. How much of a hassle is it to put it back to stock? Can the shocks be saved? I am more concerned with the ride and don't want the 'dropped' look, and don't plan on any track time with the car. Appreciate all advice. Had a 90 before a long time ago, but it was an automatic.
A good set of coilovers should be height adjustable. You might be able to bring it back close to stock height.
Otherwise it's just a spring and shock/strut change out. Maybe the upper mounts as well depending. An alignment adjustment as well. I'd guess less than $1k all in if you do it yourself. ($450 for shocks/struts, $250 for springs, $100 for alignment, $150 for beer and misc). I have the KYB AGX shocks/struts on stock springs. They work very well for daily aggressive driving without fear of speed bumps.
For me it's two days of work, but I don't have a lift and I take a lot of breaks. A more reasonable person could do it in a day.
