96 and 98 300ZXs

Does anyone know what changes were made to the 96 z32 that make it different from the 98 that they sold in Japan only?

I'm a little confused about your question, please clarify. Are you asking the difference between the USDM 96 and the jspec 98 or between the jspec 96 and the jspec 98?

the 99 jspec was redesigned with the new front fascia that everybody wants, which sometimes included side skirts. The interior got a facelift with new styling packages. Two tone seats or Recaro replacements and cf pieces. Mechanically nothing changed.

you forgot spoiler. If you compare the jspec to the USDM. the jspec has those clear tail lights that look cool too. and the jspec motors are rated at 280 hp while USDM motors are rated at 300hp.

In that case, like said before, a whole lot of cosmetic stuff. Outside, it got a new front fascia, HID headlights, clear tailights, and I believe some larger brakes. Inside, it got a whole lot of options. White face gauges, different leather color options, recaro seats, of course, right hand drive, different bezels, including carbon fiber, it just looks better, basiically. oh, and the new front fascia is urethane.

I do believe the JDM turbos are slightly smaller as well...

Not 100% sure on that one though..

Yes the turbos were smaller, providing more available power. The turbos being smaller accomidated a faster spool up time. 2,800 I believe. The Fairlady 99 to my knowledge, had different taillights, projector headlights, different fascia, and small tid bits as the others have added. Did the rear valence remain the same????

Also, the front bumper wasnt urethane on the 99'. I was infact a hybrid mix, urethane, and glass mixture. Providing the stiffness of glassed fiber, and the plyablity of urethane. Very hard to make, i've tried. Haha

(dont quote me on that statement, im not 100% sure, this is what I was told by this Z conesur over in Japan.)
