95 z32 na
Hey guys im new to this site and i was hoping you could all give me some advice. Im starting to drive now and im obsessed with Z32s. I want to start comfortable with an NA i dont want to ruin a TT as soon as i get one, want to learn a little more first from the na. do you guys think this is an okay deal- An automatic 1995 Z32 with only 109,000 miles, has a very clean carfax and seems to be mechanically good but the interior is very messed up, leather is extrememely cracked and even the carpets are a little messed up but this is the only thing wrong with the car. the guy is asking 3900. pretty good deal?

Are there any receipts for engine work done lately?
120k is the engine poop-out point, expect some work if it hasnt been rebuilt yet O.o
N/A isnt bad. Especially for new drivers. You probably wouldnt want a turbo as one of your first cars.

yeah i understand. it would help if i had more info all i can say is that this guy swears he babied the car, he only drove iton weekends and its never given him problems i saw the carfax and everything looked good. im guessing 3900 isnt too bad since the car is a 95 and has only 109,000 miles..isnt 94 and 95 when they fixed most of the Z32s problems??

nah. its the main thing that has me worried. he says he bought it when it had 64000 miles and the dealership told him they changed the timing belt(hmm) and he says that since then he has yet to face a single problem with the car so im guessing the timing belt wass changed at 60000 miles but then again not suree...he did say that i can take the car to a mechanic though

Why are you even responding in the Z32 forums? Your signature tells me you don't even own a Z32...
The Z32 never had any major problems. 90 NAs had weak brakes, early models had a PTU recall, and the injectors were updated around 94 (the biggest improvement). But other than that, every year of the Z32 was essentially the same (sans 96 when they switched to OBDII and lost VTC).

Just know that there is a 120k maintenance that'll be coming up, and it's not cheap. (But then, the Z32 is not a cheap car to own.)
It looks like it's well worth $3900 to me. Test drive it and bring a local Z32 person to give it a quick look before buying it, of course.

$608.70+shipping if you have some technical knowledge and can do it yourself. (And yes, there are write-ups to help you.)
I have no idea how much labor would be, given that I haven't paid anybody to work on a car since 2004. I'd expect it could easily total $1000-$1500 in parts and labor if you took it somewhere. Depending on where you live, you may or may not be close to the only places I'd ever take my Z (not every shop is competent enough to handle these cars - they require a meticulous attention to detail that most shops aren't used to and cannot handle).

I think the positive way to respond to that is with not complete douchebaggery. Correct me, not throw **** at me.

Here's a better idea: simply don't talk about things of which you have no knowledge, and I'll never have a reason to correct you. Read my signature, please.
And I have my reasons for correcting misinformation in the manner that I do - mainly that it's effective in preventing it from happening again.

My NA Z just passed the 180K mark and still runs strong.
Automatics do suck though. TTs are fast either way but on the NA cars the auto kills the off the line performance. They aren't too bad on the highway when you mash it to the floor and get the auto to downshift. Full throttle upshifts also bothered me because it didn't always seem like the auto was going to have the holding power to pull the engine rpms down but my auto probably could have used some new clutches since it was high mileage and may not have been rebuilt before.
Either way the 5-speed is more fun.

I personally am not a fan of the Automatic Transmissions. I would find a 5 Speed. Muuuuuch easier maintenance on the Transmission. The rest of the car is the same though. I think it is a good deal that you don't want to hop in a TT and wrap it around a tree. You should get a feel for the N/A then move up when the time is right.
I have 191k Miles on mine now. I have driven it for almost 100k myself. I do all of my own Maintenance so it is relatively cheap comparatively speaking.
120k Kit $530 fro Kyle at IPP
Here...
The Engines DO NOT crap out at 120k...lol Very bad misconception of reality on dudes part.
With a lot of mods I was able to get my N/A to push 222HP to the Wheels! IT took quite a bit but it is still there. I have basically taken the 222HP at the Crank and made it to the Wheels. 222WHP is just a bit shy of what a bone Stock TT would produce to the Wheels. So I am happy with it.

2+2 FTL, first off.
What's with the black gas door?
$4200 is pushing it for that car... I bought two separate 90TT 5spd in better cosmetic condition with the same miles for only $800 more each. If it were in better shape, the price would be good... but I see missing fog light reflectors, ebay sidemarkers, wrong colored gas door, cracked (and slightly faded) third brake light, missing washer nozzle (and the other one is an LED nozzle, which tells me the owner was a f*cking ricer [I HATE RICERS]), cracked windshield cowl, and he didn't even vacuum the car for the pics.
Start negotiations at $3k, I wouldn't pay more than $4k.
And regarding his ad:
"This sports car goes up in value each passing year unlike most cars" - no it doesn't.
"Compare to toyota supra Acura Nsx Lexus sc300 mustang camaro corvette" - no, an NA doesn't.

Let me put what Zlover said into perspective. I bought my sisters TT with 126k miles a few months ago in decent cosmetic shape, with a new trans, new turbo's, nice suede interior and recovered leather seats for $4k OTD

yeah 2+2....=/ dnt like em too much...but I told the guy straight up that I dnt like the 2 plus 2 models and that juss because of that very reason the maxx I wud give him if everything was good is 3500 n he said hed consider so wen I go look at it imma see if I can get it for like 3200...that's way better right?

When you're in that situation, it comes down to however much you'll feel comfortable spending on it. I can't give you an exact value down to the $100s. If you and he negotiate a price that YOU feel is fair, then it's fair. You should both feel like you're getting what you deserve, and if you can't both feel that way, the deal won't happen.
