1990 300zx n/a Clutch creaks and pedal stays halfway down
Hey guys,
I'm new to the forum and Z's in general. Recently bought my first 300zx and it was running great for about a week and I've ran into a few issues. While I was driving home from work I went to shift to third and the clutch pedal made a creaking noise almost like a door hinge when it needs to be lubed and then when I lifted off the clutch the pedal stayed halfway down and I used my foot to lift it back up. Got home and checked the master cylinder and the fluid is full and looks good. The guy I bought the car from said he recently changed the clutch with an OEM replacement. There is pressure when I push it down and it doesn't always stick halfway down maybe 20% of the time. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Welcome to ZDriver! If you don't have a copy of your factory service manual, you can DL one at http://www.xenonz32.com/reference.html . It's loaded with good inspection and troubleshooting guides that are easy to follow. Also be sure to post some pics of your Z here. We can never see too many fotos.
Sounds like clutch was not correctly bled for air when it was installed. Or you could have bad master cylinder (not maintaining line pressure). Any new work done recently should be warrantied. See if you can find out who did the work and take the car to them. Let us know what happens.
Welcome, again.

Hey, thanks a bunch that was exactly the issue with it, went out and bled it properly after reading a write up and following it word for word. It was a good learning experience as I've never bled a clutch before and now the clutch feels perfect. Thanks so much, and ill make sure to upload a few photos of my Z I just feel like she's nowhere near as nice as the others on here. Thank you again and sorry for not replying sooner.
