Need help removing rear shocks

Just like the title says, I need help removing the rear shocks. The problem I am running into is that I have to use a coil spring compressor otherwise the springs expand and I can get them off. However if I use a spring compressor, I cant remove the housing because with the spring compressor on I cant pull it through the upper arms. Do I need to disassemble the whole thing or what? Any Suggestions helpful!

LOL....... I just did 4 wheel shocks and brakes last friday and saturday.
you don't need to compress the springs. I have a 6 foot long bar that I use, but you can also use a 2 x 4 or something, and it only needs to be about 3 feet long

All you have to do is pry the suspension down. It'll move 3+ inches relatively easy and the shock drops right down. Then you tip it up and out. I have pics at home. You have to do the same to get it back in and you have to do the same on the fronts.

Good Luck, Here's a blurry pic...........

However, you do need to use a spring compressor when dis-assembling the strut assembly once you have it out of the car.

I tried that and it still wouldnt come out. Maybe I didnt have it pushed down all the way. Anyway, thanks for the info, and I will give it another whirl.

I had trouble getting mine out too. Just push it down like Canyon said until you are able to get it out.

The lower mount is on there pretty tight. I sprayed some lube on there and then pried it off before prying the suspension down. The suspension only needs to go down far enough for the length of the studs on top to come out of the holes.

Well I got the rear shocks on and I also did the Greg Dupree subframe spacers at the same time. How big of a difference are the spacers supposed to make? Any negative affects(long and short term) with the spacers?
