EBC Brake upgrade

My friend and I attempted to replace the OEM pads and rotors on his 91 2+2 tonight with EBC pads and rotors with no sucsess. All part #'s match up and everything. They should go on? It seemed that the EBC rotors and pads were too thick for the stock calipers. Yes, we compressed the pistons and did all the regular brake job jargon but the new rotors still needed at least 1/8 of an inch, give or take, to clear. Anyone have any experience with this company or a solution?

The 1990 model Z'zzzz came with 26mm calipers & rotors. So, most likely, the car is either a 1990 model, or somebody swapped in some older calipers and rotors on the 1991 car. Just measure the old rotor thickness.

Choices would be to get the bigger calipers or exchange the pads & rotors for the smaller ones. If you checked, and found that the new rotors cleared the old calipers, you might be able to get away with cutting 2mm off of each pad as a temporary fix.

I've used the EBC green pads on my 93 2+2 so i know the pads fit.
Stock rotors should be 30mm (1.18in) thick. Double check the new rotors to see if they're within spec.

i had a similare problem to this also, make sure you completly seperate the brake pads, when i changed my pads and seperated tehm by prying a little they would fit over the rotors, turned out they werent all they way apart, you really gotta try, might have to even open up the bleeder on it and pry it'll shoot out brake fluid and such but yah need to relieve the pressure.

I should of also told you the new rotors are the EBC sloted and drilled rotors, not OEM style. I compared the used OEM and new EBC side by side using the small inner rim of rotor that is un-used/worn as reference. The stock rotors were significantly thinner. I dunno, we'll try again sometime this week and see how it goes.
