Show me your.....Bass!!

Looking at adding 12's but no good place to put em, how do you guys handle that problem? I've seen the stealthbox, but what about homemade solutions?

When you say "12's" I assume you mean more than one. You're not going to hide multiple 12" subwoofers in a 300ZX without MAJOR added weight in terms of covers (I'll explain in a moment).

You might be able to hide a single 12" sub in the spare tire spot, but that'd be about it. There is one guy on tt.net (NiXit) who has a single 10" sub underneath his spare tire.

On the other hand, if you wanted to basically make a new hatch floor, it'd be possible to hide multiple subs. For instance, what I had considered doing (until the weight discouraged me) was making a raised floor in the hatch, about 6 or 7 inches up, and setting the subs in that. From there, I was going to throw carpeting over it and it'd look like it was just a real shallow hatch. However, performance is more important to me than anything else, so I'd rather my [somewhat] lighter sub boxes with window tint and an alarm.

So, in the end, here are your options...

- visible 12" subwoofers (plural)
- invisible 10" or 12" subwoofer (singular)
- invisible 12" subwoofers (plural) with an assload of extra weight, causing poor performance and gas mileage

mine are similar to these

http://cgi.ebay.com/Nissan-300ZX-Sub...QQcmdZViewItem

but are a bit higher up and slanting up to the edge of the hatch sills to accomodate my 12's, I also made a wood frame with vinyl stretched over it to attach over them to hide them when I dont want them visible.. just looks like a narrow hatch area with really big wheel wells... atleast to anyone whos not smart enough to realize whats there

Cool ill take a look. Yeah I had some 12's i wanted to put in but it does seem like they might just add too much weight. Has anyone seen them put in the center holder thingy behind the seats?

what "center holder thingy being the seats"? If you're talking about the shelf, that isn't hollow... that's your gas tank.

LOL, yeah never thought of calling it a shelf, but yeah, anyone make a box that fit on it, i know the tank is below it, just wanted to see how creative guys are at getting some bump in their ride.

... you talk about wanting your setup to be discrete, and then you talk about putting it where everyone and their grandmothers can see it? Yes, it's been done, but it's completely contradictory to what you initially specified.

it can still be discrete, you dont HAVE to show off the amps if you make a discrete box for them, and put it on the shelf
