Map Light Trouble
Map Light Trouble
I have this weird buzzing noise coming out of my map light assembly. I just called Courtesy Nissan and this guy, Steve, was super helpful. He was able to tell me exactly what the problem is; it's the "in-car sensor" (part number 27054MA). The problem is the replacement part is like $40 -- and it's this tiny little thing that I know I could find for less if only I knew where to look.
Any ideas?
Here are a couple pics (I broke it down progressively so you could get an idea exactly where the part is):

I opened the thing up before I called the guy and tried blowing it out with compressed air. That didn't really do the trick (read: it hardly did anything). The crappy thing is I live in an area where there are pretty much no junkyards around. I found a used one on eBay, but who knows whether it has the same problem as mine.

I am pretty sure you can either replace it with a very small fan you can get at a electronics supply store or just turn the radio up.

Unfortunately I'm only running an old-skool Sony CD player head unit with no external amplification and probably the stock Bose speakers, so turning up the stereo is not a realistic option -- to say nothing of a permanent solution. Now, the replacement fan idea might be something worth checking out. I am a mean solderer.
It happened to me, go here to fix it!

"Carefully pop the entire vented plastic thing out & disconnect the plug. put a bit of oil at the bottom & top of the spindle in the fan. You may have to very slightly tighten the screw holding the fan but if you tighten it too much the fan won't work. Test it by turning the key on & see if the fan turns. Mine has been squeek free ever since. Was totally obnoxious!!! Hope that helps."
They have a fix on TT.net to this, I just can't find it because of our firewall here at work.
Hope it helps.
