Z31 brake potential realized
Z31 brake potential realized
For everyone obsessed with swapping to Z32 brakes; You really don't need to.
If it's for cosmetic reasons, yes. The Z32 calipers are much prettier.
Braided stainless steel lines + Some nice rotors + and nice pads = awesome braking power.
I while back I got the braided stainless steel brake lines ($130) thanks to MSA, which in it-self made a huge impact. Recently I decided to finish the brake upgrade. I got a complete set of cross-drilled, vented, slotted rotors from OC Motorsports off E-Bay ($120) and picked up some carbon metalic pads for the front and semi-metalic for the rear from Auto Zone ($60 total I think).
Swapped all that in last week, and it is AMAZING.
The master cylinder and calipers are still stock naturaly aspirated ones too.
Just wanted to share with you all my fun new parts.

I was worst
, I was obsessed with the 6 piston calipers/discs AP Racing kit for the Skyline/Z31(all)/Z32TT. The kit is about $2600 only for the front plus buying 17" wheels, the minimum size required for the AP disc brakes. Plus, swapping the front brakes hubs from the 84 to 89T. All this can cost more than $3500. So, I said: Hell no! Then I started to look in www.zcarparts.com(Motorsport Auto). And there are excellent prices. I've upgraded my 84 Z31 2+2 NA with the Stainless Steel Brake Line Kit, Cross Drilled/Slotted Brake Rotors and Carbon-Kevlar pads, in the front and rears. Plus new pistons caliper. With all this, awesome braking power I have now and does not fade if you make sharp braking.

The "Big Brake" kits are really not needed for daily driving. Even for spirited driving or track days. If you were road racing the car and needed to come down from 100+ speeds repeatedly THEN you'd see a difference.
