Exclamation RX7 vs 300zx vs 3000

I think this would be a great race between all of the major forgein car companies. It seems like all these cars have alot in common. Well the Mazda rx7 has a 13B Rotary engine, and both the 300zx and the 3000 have 3.0L V6 engines. I was just wondering who would win in a factory stock car race.

the rx7 of the same generation especially the 88-90 turbo II are quick and capable cars there power band is mostly top end but there weight is about 400 lbs. less. im not saying it could take out the 300zx just that if you made them look like hondas they were'nt packen the proper equipmet to take on a ZXturbo. that would be the turbo. i have seen a lot of honda guys wup v6 mustangs then go talk trash about how 5.0s are weak when they never raced one. and i know what your thinking yes i own an 89 300zx turbo. and with the 3000GT its only chance would be a drag race it would get out classed in the handling department by both the other cars.

well you could go to old car mag tests.
the ones i've read show the 300zx, 300gt, supra, corvette, Rx-7, and porsche 968.
All together i think in 93 in car and driver.
The RX-7 the Z and the supra are fast, but i can't remember who was faster.
Good read though. Killed some time in a college library. LOL.

When the TT Z came out it was the fastest, then the TT RX7 came out and was faster, then the TT Supra came out & it was the fastest. That was according to the magazines at the time. The Mitsu was the heaviest and slowest. Funny enough one magazine did a wet road 1/4 mile run with these cars back in the day & they said the Mitsu beats most anything in wet weather due to the AWD it had. Traction was great in that car.

i raced a 3000gt 2 days ago. He tore me up pretty bad, but I guess thats also because he was in a vr-4, my zx isnt turbo-charged so i guess he had every reason to blow my doors off.

Since, these magazines have been out of print for ten-fifteen year, I know the info is kind of hard to find. Rizz, if you and the guys find it helpful, I can try and dig up even more old car mag Z32 stats, and maybe you could make one of those sticky post. Let me know, I have a bunch of Z32 auto mags, that I bought off usedmagazine.com, laying around at home anyway. So, it won't be to much trouble.

vr4 (3kgts) are around 3900 lbs...boooh, just some more mitsubitchy technology at it s worst..as for the rx7....most competitions, not matter what year 300, would beat a 300z..sad to say, but true...i like zs more in the end though..so whatever

Uhhh... That 3000GTVR4 wieghs a lot more than 3900 pounds... Try 4400 pounds (Same as the Stealth RT/TT). It also has a shamefully week trans/diff set up. Try and smoke the tires and you'll grenade the diffs instead.

i use to have an NA rx7 86, it died and i got a z31T, now my buddy has a 90 rx7 and he can deffinately keep up with me, but on cold nights i can pull away. ive also whooped up on NA stealths with my NA rx7, so, NA rx7s are quick, but turbo 300zx's are quicker....to an extent.

The 90 n/a rx-7 only has 160 hp and rotary motors have no bottom end. So you have him by 40 hp and the better torque of a V6. Now if his 7 is turbo you both have about the same 200 hp with the 7 having a slight advantage of about 400 lbs. less weight then the Z. So if the 7 is n/a you should tune the Z a little and work on your launch. before the engine went in my 89ZXT i wupped my friends 88 rx-7 n/a by 2 lengths before letting off at about 90 mph.

buddy, at the time, my cat was clogged, my air filter was crap, and that NA 7 is built like a mother. now that we have both done a lil more, things might be different. yes rotaries have no bottom torque, but neither does a low compression turbo v6. he redlines at 8k, i redline at 6.5k he doesnt have to deal w/ turbo lag, his gearing is a little longer than mine, and when we hit 90, i pull like a mother on his ***. he has no pull in 5th gear, im turbo, i do.

maybe next time you should post all the facts. I was under the impression you were struggling to win with a Z in good shape running against a stock 7. I would like to here the result of a race between you guys once your car is running better.

3000's sure they look nice but they are made by mitshibushi not saying it's a bad company but when it comes to reliability later on down the road there are a few problems that need to be worked out but what do i know i have never owned one
