I thought the change over happened for the turbo at the same time as the diff

You thought wrong. Again. VERY LITTLE changed in that month. Forget the date for anything else. It didn't change. The compression on ALL 87 motors (A/B and W series) was still 7.8:1. They ALL used the T3. Yadda. Yadda. Yadda. JUST LIKE THE PAGE I (and then you) LINKED.

Try reading it next time.

Still overheating? Take a look at the radiator and run you're finger across the cooling fins.
If the crumble, replaced your radiator. When my radiator went, my car kept overheating and there was no visible sign of failure until I touched the cooling fins, they just disintigrated. Found a new radiator online, installed it, and problem solved.
