New option for Z31 intake manifold

We trotted out our prototype unit to Branson Z Fest this year, but just released it for sale.

We've taken the 3rd Gen Maxima intake manifold, performed the same gutting and port shaping process that we do for our Z31 gutted intakes,
and then adapted it to clear the Z31 hood.

Should make intercooler piping significantly easier, and offer a nice new look, with less clutter on the top side of the motor.

Comments? Questions? Feel free to post them up here.

No offense, but for $500 plus I would have to supply the plenum and pay for shipping both ways, is a bit ridiculous for just having a gutted maxima plenum with an elbow welded on and a few holes welded up in the name of making intercooler pipe routing easier.

This is just my own opinion, but when you start into the $400+ range, you really start wandering into the custom made upper plenum realm.

That's all well and good from someone who doesn't own a Z31 and intend to buy one anyway at any cost.

Consider it a custom plenum made from a stock plenum. Basically, a plenum that will bolt up to the lower intake manifold without a problem.

Sounds expensive, but when you consider the cost of having one custom made, it really isn't. YOU might be able to find one for about the same or even less. Doesn't mean anyone else "knows a guy".

Technically its $479 shipped - the increase in price over our Z31 gutted intakes is only going towards the extra material & welding labor. Yes, for these we require cores. Why? Because they are hard to find.

Someone on Z31P (which we might assume is a bit more..uhm...popular enthusiast community for the platform) fabricated their own "custom" plenum out of an intercooler endtank. It still cost them 450 bucks, and they still ended up having to cut a hole in their hood to clear the piping after it was all said and done. It's also smaller than a gutted Maxima plenum.

If you want an actual full out custom intake, you're in the 700-800 dollar range, plus providing an LIM, plus the cost of shipping. We think this slots far beneath that, and we feel our unit has the best flow characteristics of all units built from the Z31, Maxima, or Pathfinder upper manifold cores.

But hey Hoov, what do we know about developing and building low-volume performance parts for sports cars with a limited aftermarket? Maybe I could hire you as a consultant?
