I have been having problems, I would start my car and when you accelerate, she bogs and stalls. I had a mobile tech come over and look at her, he replaced the wires with better ones and I added a new fuel filter as well. The car will Idle but when you step on the gas she stalls right away, Also his computer was reading that the airflow sensor was overvolting ? could it be the air sensor ? or could it be a number of problems to check for ?

might want to check the TPS (throttle position sensor) and its connection.. clean the connector and make sure theres no moisture in there..

the TPS is on the throttle body on the driver side of the car. If you stand on the driver's side of the car and look at the throttle body you'll see a thin black box and that is the TPS. The airflow sensor is another possibility. If you know anyone else with a Z31 see if you can try out their MAF. Also another thing you could do, is pull off your MAF and check to make sure there's nothing blocking the little grating covering it.

is that the cause of lots of problems, hopefully it would solve this one, she will idle, but you can't give it gas, she stalls.

thats one of the problems.. but like duowing said you might want to check the MAF too.. i say test it first... disconnect the TPS and run the car.. give it a little gas and see if it stalls out...

I should send you pics of my 85, I don't know how to add them into my name in the forum like the ones you have. My Z is my weekend warrior ride. I have a new baccio Scooter I drive back and forth to work, 3 bucks gets you 120 miles.

disconnected the airflow meter, the car now runs well, but won't exceed 2000 rpm, would that indicate the problem I had , a bad MAF meter ??

My friend's Z31 is still having a simular problem. The car starts ups, runs fine, even revs smooth for a few seconds then the problems kick in. It bogs and misfires. Runs best at idle.

Swapped MAS and everything is the same. (not sure if the other MAS works though) She bought a new TPS (yes, new) and that did not help at all. The car can't even get to 2000 rpm because it sounds to me like it is starving for fuel. Not sure though...

What other items cause these sort of issues? CHTS, Oxygen sensor, bad ECU???
turning the car off and then on seems to fix it for a bit so I'm pretty sure its an electrical item that is bad, not a mechanical issue.

I know these cars when the MAF is disconnected would rev fine, but didn't want to go past 2K RPM. Maybe something is wrong with the wiring harness?

The car wont rev over 2000rpms without the AFM connected. If it does the very same thing when it is plugged in then it could very well be the AFM.
