Anything is possible if you have the money and the time. Actually the VQ35 swap into a 1st gen 300 would probably not be that much of a big deal. I'm sure it would take plenty of fabrication but it would probably be a relatively easy swap compared to some other swaps. There's a few pics of a 240Z with the VQ35 swap in another part of the forum. If you can squeaze it into that car, your car should be a cake walk.

Rod.

welcome back pete8717. i think i would have to agree with you. the vg30dett is meant to be a tt motor. the vq35 is meant to be an NA motor. i dont know how many vids ive seen of someone blowing the hell out of their twin turboed vq35. i cant even think of seeing a vg30dett blowing up off the top of my head.

Hey man it's good to be back. I think I was banned for a awhile because I didn't have access to anything, but hey, **** happens. I'm trying to control my anger better. A little swap I would like to do is an RB26DETT motor in a 1981 280zx. Can you say sleeper? I don't think I would have to worry about room because isn't the RB26DETT a 2.5 liter? The only hard parts would be engine mounts, wiring, and drivetrain.

yes, you were banned. just stay cool and dont let things get to you so much, and if they do, go take your anger out on something else. puch a pillow or whatever. please dont bring that kind of stuff here. anyways, an RB26DETT in a 280zx would be cool, you should post in the 280zx section and see what they think about it. and the RB26DETT is a 2.6 liter. thats how nissan names its engines, vg30e is 3.0, vq35 is 3.5 etc... thats also how many of their cars are named. the 240z had a 2.4, 280 a 2.8, and the reason there were two very different 300zx's is they both had a 3.0. the SX models are the same, a 180sx is 1.8 etc...

A VG30DETT would come out of a Z32(2nd generation) 300zx, which I think starts at 1989 to 1996. Someone correct me if I'm wrong please.

a z32 twin turbo to be precise. and they were manufactured in japan from 1989 to 1999 or 2000, imported to the US between 1990 and 1996.

Actually, they were imported from 1989 to 1996. but they were the 1990 to 1996 models.

i know. i was speaking in terms of model years, not build and import dates, i felt it was obvious, and therefore did not expand.

More and more lately, I'm finding that the obvious is lost.
