How to tell if an '87 has LSD?
I'm told that Z31 Turbos manufactered after 4/87 were equipped with LSD's (so that not ALL '87 Turbos have it). So how can I tell if a particular '87 Z31 Turbo has an LSD? Does part of the VIN denote the manufacture date? And/or can I tell by looking at the diff itself? Thanks

jack the rear tires off the ground and put the car in neutral. then spin one of the wheels by hand. if the other one moves in the same direction you have lsd, if they move in opposite directions you dont.

Oops, I forgot to state in my first post that I was talking about Z31 Turbos (now corrected). So I know that '87 was the year the LSD's started being added, but I was told that not all of the '87 Turbos had the LSD because they didnt' start putting em on till about 4/87. So that's why I was trying to find out how to tell if this junkyard Z31 Turbo had one, either by the VIN (if it indicates production date) or by any external difference in the diff case.
