FS5R30A by Borg Warner?

Hello fellow Z'ers. I had always thought that the king daddy of the Z31 manual transmissions, the FS5R30A, was made by Nissan. That is until I came across this video. Transmission Gears Video ~ Nissan Pathfinder ~ BeerGarage.com Did both Nissan and Borg Warner make the FS5R30A?

The FS5R30A was a heavy duty design of Nissan's origin, but some think it was designed to be a heavier duty version of the Borg Warner T5. Nissan did manufacture the T5 under license to BW, designating it the FS5R90A. The R30A eventually replaced the R90A in all Zcar and Nissan truck applications. There are subtle differences in the synchros used in FS5R90A compared to a BW manufactured T5. I also have seen speculation the R30A was intended to possess the best qualities of both the T5 and the Nissan designed FS5W71C transmission, with a higher hp rating than either.
