Re: winter

unless you have experience driving on/in snow or ice, i'd advise putting it away at the first snow. if you must drive it in the snow, make sure the gas tank is full - the added weight helps.

to prevent rust, wash down the underbelly of the car after driving on salted roads, or the beach. if if you're just in a coastal area, and it's rainy, salty water on the roads splashes up under the car. I was in CA (near los angeles) visiting and on a rainy day my friend and i were at the mall. after leaving (walking in puddles) my shoes got pretty wet. when they dried, there were white rings from the salt just from parking lot puddles.

makes me REALLY not want to go to the beach....

Re: winter

if that is your main concern, and they salt the roads where u live, then dont drive it til well after the last snow. you might even wait til after the first or second rain so that any salt on the roads will have the time to wash away.

be aware that if you store you car on the ground (instead of concrete) then moisture will be able to accumulate on the underbody. best option is to store it inside a garage with a concrete floor. if you have to store it outside, then a good thick layer of heavy duty plastic under the car will help things a bit.
