My idle has been @ 1100 to 1200 rpm for the past yr (with the adjustment screw set as far back as possible). After changing plugs, wires, cap & rotor it idles lower (around 900 rpm) at start up, but is intermitently choppy. After it warms a while it still goes up to around 1200 rpm.
What are you guys running at? and what do you gap your plugs at?

 

I run about 800-900rpm idleing. It idles really smooth at that speed.

 

there should be a sticker on the underside of your hood to help you find the correct idle speed.

and generally, warm-up idle is slightly higher than normal idling. set idle when engine is warm.

 

Ya i have this same problem...i'll check for the sticker under my hood to see where i should be idling, but wat would cause this probem?
I noticed that sometimes when i press the gas (when its parked mind u...) that theres a kind of "hesitation" sometimes and that at times the idle surges a bit. Wat do u guys think? Loose vac line or wat?

 

I'm around 9k to 10k when warm.

 

About 900 here, but was choppy when I first got it. Was a sticky injector.

 

how did you "unstick" the injector?

 

I tried 3 different brands of injector cleaner. The one that worked was the Outlaw brand truck size bottle. It's black with bright green print. Says it treats like 30 some gallons so I used about 2/3's of it. Can't say whether it was the previous 2 bottles or just that brand that did it, but when it cut loose I almost rear ended the guy in front of me. Was getting on it taking off from a stop and it felt like an instant 20-30 HP came in like hitting a switch. Surprised the crap out me. Been running perfect ever since. Smooth idle and starts much easier.
