Rustiness...eeeeewww and just look out for regular things you would when bying a car...rust,Miles,problem,has it been in a wreck?,overall condition,TURBO!!!!!
turbos have so mutch more potential then NA

But sadly turbos are usually the most neglected of the Z31s. You really will have to be careful when buying a turbo most people don't know how to take care of the turbos or they do dumb things to them so you will have to be careful and check a turbo out much more througholy then a NA.

yea this is true...I raced my friend who has a turbo (i have na) and beat him the other day...whats up with that? he doesnt know either...obviously the turbo isnt working. but a perfect example...

Yeah with most turbos oil has caked up over the years. People also will run the cars really hard and then just turn off the engine (this absolutely kills the Turbo). If they are well taken care of though they are extremely dangerous cars and an NA will never have a chance.

Don't be fooled by the car looking good inside and out. Anyone can clean & polish a car. Look deeper. Look through the engine compartment. If it's not as clean as the rest of the car, then there's something fishy. Look for cracked hoses, etc. Also check underneath the car. It's easier to find leaks from underneath. Plus, you can see if it's bottomed out on anything. Check the frame rails too. It's an older car, so you need to be careful. Ask to see the service records.
