The unforgiving Z
Hey Fellow Zr's
I got problems with my a/t colent lines i think the reciving line might be clogged but I'm not sure. the problem I could blow copressed air into the sender side but the reciving side I can't .
and i also unplugged the sender side and started the engine and fluid came rushing out. I even tried it through the radiator and no problem. So if the flow is good up untill the point that its coming out of the radiator . the reciving line it must be clogged someware between the where it connects to the radiator to someware up to the tranny. My question to any of the wise and all knowing z people is : Are there any Known areas that the clog up in thease lines?
thanks.

Well, first of all, there may be many problems...not just one. Let's tackle one. Disconnect the recieving side from both the tranny and the cooler (I have a turbo so your location may vary), from the right front side underneath the raidator-- the cooling unit looks like a mini raidaitor-- toward the bumper. If you can blow air through the line, then you need a new cooler, or try to flush it out. Hope this helps!

Re: The unforgiving Z
try unbolting the banjo bolts that hold both in/out cooler lines to the transmission. put compressed air through one and if it doesnt come out the other end, you've got a clog in there (be aware that any tranny fluid that's in the radiator cooler will come gushing out first - have a drain pan handy).
I wouldnt advise trying to run air through with either attached to the tranny - there may be a check valve inside the transmission or something. Plus, it's probably not good to fiill your fluid passages inside the transmission with air.
If it's clogged, separate the hoses going ot the bottom of the radiator and check them individually. if one of them is clogged, check for any bends or smashed areas in the metal lines. you can try running a flimsy coat hanger through as far as you can, and maybe dislodge whatever might be plugging it.

it will be loads of fun, there is no drain plug. just unbolt the pan and it will pour out... seriously, there is no drain plug. here's a bit of advice though, let the rear of the pan break loose first, and have a large drain bucket handy.
