Timing issues
Timing issues
I just finished putting on the timing belt on my 1984 300zx turbo....all the marks line up, both cam sprockets as well as crankshaft sprocket at the bottom according to the FSM....I installed the crankshaft pulley and the timing indicator lined up on zero degrees, also the rotor is pointing towards the number one spark plug.....the issue is when I tried to torque the crankshaft bolt the crankshaft pulley moved slightly to the right as well as the marks on the camshafts.....everything moved about a 1/4 inch before I torqued the bolt. (Car was in fifth gear)....Does that mean that the timing is off? Do I need to start all over again? I have not tried to start the car! Any input would be greatly appreciated.
If you have the plugs out and torqued already it wouldn’t hurt to turn back a little bit to ensure everything is right. Or just go around again. If it did slip which I’m not sure it did it should be okay. I’m assuming all of your marks are right, not just the crank pulley?
im thinking everything moved when you torqued it and it just turned over a little bit.
