supercharged Z31

ok, i found a video on youtube of a supercharged Z31 but i can't find anything on it to save my life (given i'm not very handy with a computer). anybody know anything or heard of anyone supercharging their Z31?

P.S. it's a centrifugal. possibly a vortech or procharger.

it's not all that common of a job because a turbo is a lot more effective, so there won't be a whole lot of support that you can find for it.

snwbrderphat540 10-21-2008 05:06 PM

lol did you JUST make up that statistic? and what bassis does the "more effective" statement work off of?

KasbeKZ 10-21-2008 06:00 PM

yeah i made it up. you can't argue that the turbo is not vastly superior.

snwbrderphat540 10-21-2008 06:28 PM

its not superior. though i prefer it. its more effecient in HP gain over HP stolen. but it doesnt make the poewr as instantly or as low int he RPM range as a super charger. every thing has an up and a down. honestly if your track racing on small tracks and auto X go S/C otherwise turbo will probably be better for all other applications.

johnZboy 10-21-2008 07:16 PM

Better Yet...

Use the boost of a S/C until the turbo spools... Yee Haw!!!:icon_super:

KasbeKZ 10-21-2008 07:20 PM

^^^^ that's the one. if you're ambitious!

Zetto 10-21-2008 09:26 PM

yeah, i was thinking something along the lines of sc plus turbo.

not use to searching forums, my bad

snwbrderphat540 10-21-2008 10:05 PM

super charger and turbo is a very complicated setup to get done right. also, not worth it in the end result unless you do some very fancy engineering using like electronic clutch on the S/C pulley to disengage once the turbo spools.

Zetto 10-21-2008 10:14 PM

works on cobras lol

snwbrderphat540 10-21-2008 10:48 PM

come again?

KasbeKZ 10-21-2008 10:53 PM

cobras (mustang or factory five i guess) have ford V-8's, that occasionally get turbo and sc set ups.

Zetto 10-21-2008 11:18 PM

yeah...you really don't know what a cobra is dude? c'mon lol but seriously, i've seen alot of european cars with that type of setup too.

snwbrderphat540 10-22-2008 09:28 AM

cobra is gerneal we talking shelby/AC cobra mustang cobra where the newest get supercharged very very few people to a supercharger and turbo charger for good reason. one or the other. when i said come again its because it seemed you were referring to a mustang cobra a supercharged car so thats my bassis as a supercharged and turbo car.... which it isnt. theres been like one ever production car with that as far as i can think of. anyways.... stick with the turbo save LOTS OF TIME AND MONEY and make more power.

KasbeKZ 10-22-2008 10:29 AM

cause it's superior?

snwbrderphat540 10-22-2008 11:14 AM

in this case yes, not always though

Bleach 10-22-2008 12:30 PM

A while back I saw a website where someone documented their build of a white Z31 with a supercharger and turbo. It was done well. I think the license plate was BEATMYZ

I found the page. Its really old... the owner is certainly not a web designer :)

KasbeKZ 10-22-2008 01:23 PM

that's actually the first time that i've seen one with z32 wheels. looks pretty good.

Zetto 10-22-2008 11:15 PM

wtf? he never showed the engine IN the car.

JoeGasm 10-23-2008 12:02 AM

Like those TwinCharger Volkswagens?

Zetto 10-23-2008 02:11 AM

yeah, pretty much. i've seen a m3 with both too

Niku-Sama 10-23-2008 11:00 PM

why dont you just turbo a VG33ER, half the work is already done for you

Zetto 10-23-2008 11:15 PM

i don't like roots type superchargers, centrifugals are sooo much better. and i want to keep the stock engine in her.

snwbrderphat540 10-24-2008 12:14 AM

centrifugal S/C lag like turbo's dude... they are a waste. not AS bad of lag but they dont boost as quikly as roots but are a bit more efficient and create less heat i believe.
