Hello, this weekend I needed to replace an o-ring on the speedo pinion gear to stop a transmission leak. After putting all back in, the speedometer stopped working. I made sure the cable was in correct (Cable is in the slotted hole and pinion gear is push all the way in, Ground wire is attached). When I checked the sensor under the hood, some oil leaked out of the sensor and the speedo cable had some oil on it. Does this mean the sensor is Bad? I will also check to see if the transmission is turning the cable.

 

Fixed the issue. The cable sleeve was not on tight. on my lunch went under the car with locking pliers and tightened the sleeve it works now but there is still gear oil dripping from it though with a new o-ring. I also put a new little ring seal where the cable slides into the pinion gear. This was the only place this little seal fits in perfectly. let me know if this is where the seal is suppose to go in. I could not find another place for this ring seal
