so the speakers in my 86 were blown when i got them, and the whole wiring situation was ****ed, so i just ran new wire, and bought a couple of speakers for the back, as i dont have enough money to get good ones for the front yet. 6.5 inches, the same as stock. i get them, and lo and behold, they dont fit. cool. now, they should fit, but they have some type of lip on them that prevents them from seating properly. so my question is what specific speakers do you guys KNOW fit the stock speaker mounts?

 

Yeah, they have to be a certain design 6.5" to fit.

The only ones I know for 100% will fit is Kenwood KFC-1682ie. Best Buy carries them. I'm sure there are more that do fit, but I cannot tell you for sure.

 

A pair of 5.25's sat in there perfectly for me. I just took my Dremel and drilled some new holes. The whole thing took roughly ten minutes.
