overheating need help!

this is my first post guys so please take it easy on me . i have a 1984 z31 turbo and i am really lost with this issue...my car starts up fine runs and idles normal boost is strong but after about 15 minuts of driving it she starts to overheat so i checked the coolant and the overflow was full but radiator was dry so i let the car cool down filled it up with coolant and 15 min later same thing radiator is dry overflow full and a bunch of coolant sitting all over the bottom of my engine bay. i replaced the radiator cap..no difference. also theres a rusty looking coating when i open the cap all over what i can see inside the cooling system. and im not shure if this has anything to do with it but when i shut the car completley off some weird fan turns on in the front drivers side part of the engine bay and it looks like something should be connected to it but nothing is there...please help me out or at least point me in the direction of what to do next or what parts i need thanks guys

You may have a bad head gasket, combustion cylinder compression could be pushing coolant out of the system into the overflow.

How does the oil look on the dipstick?

If you're adding antifreeze to the radiator, smell the exhaust and see if you detect a sweet odor.
Do you notice a lot of white smoke from the exhaust?

Do a compression check, too.

Sometimes folks over look the simple things. Check the drive belt on the water pump pulley. Could be loose, slipped off or completely broken. Easy to over look on cars using electric cooling fans (which is the noise you hear). If the oil looks good and compression checks out, this could also be a corroded/plugged radiator, hence the rust you see.

Are you able to see where the coolant is coming from when you say it is all over the engine bay? See if you can clean off the coolant and run the car while watching for the location of the leak or where the coolant is coming from. This should give a few clues.
