No idea help
I have a 1987 300zx n/a.I don't know what the problem is but she don't seem to wanna heat up.If I let her run for about a half hour or more she is fine. But as soon as take her on the road and the air gets to her she starts running like crap. Also if i go up a hill she will star running better.I have heard that the cylinder head temp senser can cause some wierd things to happen.I have one of those on the way.If anybody can give me some ideas PLEASE let me know.
Thanks.
Thanks.
i was thinking that the maf may have something to do with it not running well at certain temperatures. it's a long shot. but we don't need to worry about it anymore, because you just told us what the problem was. put a stock thermostat in there and you'll be just fine. your car is pumping all it's water all the time. no wonder it's not getting warm.
Hey this is my old z. I took the t-stat out over a year and a half ago, and never had any problems with it. That's why we did'nt look at that right away. He has a new t-stat that I bought for it a while back but was too lazy to put it in. I replaced the maf on 8/16/2007. I got it from hoov100, it could be bad by now but it's showing none of the usual bad maf signs. I think it's actually the tps that's bad. Cause the running problem sounds like it's skipping or missing but it's not. Like if the tps is saying it's idling for a second then the throttle is open then idle again. From what I've read here http://z31.com/repairs/tps.shtml it makes sence as to the way the car is running. But back to the no t-stat, like I said I never had a problem, it warmed like normal but just ran a few degrees cooler is all. We are going to put the new one in today as long as he can get some coolant and gasket maker and we are going to see if it fixes it, it might, it might not. I'm also trying to get some help from here as well, http://www.z31performance.com/forum/...p?f=14&t=14773 . There is a bit more info from me there than here.
