New Guy in Town

Hello to all the Z31 lovers.

I'm new to this forum thing but decided to join to get in touch with other Z31 owners in hopes of useful info and to learn from your experiences.

Now that the Canadian winter is over I took my 86 300zx Turbo out of storage cleaned her up a bit and after connecting the battery she started up on the first shot (well after a few seconds). To celebrate I decided to drive to the beer store and pick up some beers, along the way she started to overheat and cut out on me, lets just say I still had time to walk the rest of the way while I waited on the tow truck. I replaced the rad last summer so my guess is now it needs a thermostat, I will be replacing it soon and hopefully that will solve the problem.

If anyone has any other ideas please let me know what you think it could be.

Thx

Welcome to ZDriver!

Always check ALL fluids when taking a car out of storage... And a stuck thermostat sounds possible, especially if the coolant mix was mostly water.

Yeah I checked all fluids and hoses and such before taking it out on the road, that's why i could only think of the thermostat, if so easy fix and back on the road.

Welcome, another fellow Torontonian!

As for any car coming out of storage you should change all your basic fluids..and where was the car stored?..if outdoors..check for blockages in the rad core..nests..etc..even in the garage those critters can get in the tightest spots..just give everything a good flush.
