My daughter has been driving my Z since she and her useless "boyfriend" can't seem to find and buy their own vehicle...hes 32/she 33...anyway, called yesterday and said" well the Z car has had it...It was knocking when I drove it home from work last night and it died on the highway and won't start."...KNOCKING!!!....so I drive out there, with MY keys, check the oil, EMPTY, at least none on the stick...I pour in three quarts(yeah)and fire it up and the rods are slinging parts all underneath it....well crap...okay...300K...big deal..V8 time maybe...so go get my trailer and decide to wait until morning since its dark already....5 AM, sheriff is knocking on my door...Huh...what?? "did I know my car was sitting out on the highway with the tires slashed and all the windows busted out and covered in eggs?".....what a difference 10 hours can make....no it was fine except for the blown motor and trashed tranny (auto)....so I spend 5 FREAK-IN HOURS THIS MORNING getting it on a trailer and off the highway and to my home....just needed to vent....guess I wont be needing all the new parts that i put on it now...including the new dash cover in my bedroom...I mean crap it was/is old but it was still a good car..why would someone do that to an old classic like that...84 2+2....I feel violated....

 

Sorry to hear that man. But, the vandalism may have been somewhat of a blessing in disguise if you think about it... Car insurance companies don't care if your motor blows up, but they do care if your car get's trashed. Let them total it and pay you for it, then you can either buy it back for next to nothing and fix it back up or let them junk it and buy another one...

thats awful. how does somebody run a car out of oil? why would you even drive it if it was knocking? and what is wrong with people, "hey, theres a car on the highway, lets f**k it up". that sucks, but rod is right, hopefully the insurance company will help out.

 

but, If I were you, lets not tell them about the motor part..... jus dress it up like, o yea, my daughter had car trouble, so I went picked her p, and was waiting till morning, then the sheriff woke me up about the car being trashed. see sweet innocent....sensored truth.

But it was prolly a bunch of kids who prolly never paid for a thing in their life, becasue lets face it, if you pay for something you tend to value it.

already found an 84 Turbo 5 sped with t tops here....don't think I'll be spending any money to repair the old one...maybe a v8 powered drifter but not gonna sink a bunch into it..too bad the body is in fpretty good shape..interior was worn out but I had started restoring that....also new brakes all around, rotors calipers and pads...new fuel sending unit...new light switch and wiper switches....tie rod ends...toyo tires...now useless with gaping holes in the sides....new speedo cable and drive...new cruise module...and now just a pile of junk.....guess we'll see what happens when the LEOS get finished .....this "was" my 7th 7 car...not sure if I wanna go to number 8...but the turbo is right at 100K and in decent shape ...and I think I can get it for around $1500...so who knows...we'll see..thanks for letting me vent....I dont post here often ....I appreciate it...

Sorry to hear about your Z man, I totally understand the feeling and I hope something good comes out of all this in the end. People who screw w/ a mans car should be hung from a tree...on fire. I wouldn't wish this on my most hated Honda enemy, and surely wouldn't wish it on a fellow Zdriver. Good luck with the transition in this time of your life. (and hope those vandalizing cowards are caught!!!)

 

Been talking to a kid that had a known oil leak and he called saying the engine had locked. He knew it had a leak and he didn't bother to put any oil in it, to busy with school. Offered him 300 for it as is. Other than needing an engine it's a fair 87 2+2.
Bandit, where in Missouri are you?? if your close to Springfield I have 5 31's at a friends shop, he has another 3 or so. What year is your Z, might be interested in parts. Oops missed the year in first post.

wow thats really crappy...I get worried about kids at my school doing that to my Z all the time. They get pissed about stupid stuff and they know i love my car, and shortly after someone is mad ppl start asking me "what kind of car do you drive" and i warn them if anything happens to it im going to file a lawsuit and break their legs with a steel pipe...(sorry i get deffensive of my Z) =P

 

I'm in Jefferson City...finally got my internet going again...switched isps...anyway, this one can be yours for a minimal amount or perhps trade for any motorcycle parts youmight have..if you are serious about the car...body is straight...has had lf fender replaced...new front brakes rear pads and I have a new in the box dash cover for one too...If ya want it make me an offer and come get it...I just sold a vw convertible I had to a guy who came from wisconsin to get it...I am going to strip the new parts off and call the junk yard soon so let me know....I can take and emai ya some flicks of it if ya like....

 

Actually I do need a LF fender for an 86 we have. Right now I don't need another entire 2+2. Jeff City would be a long trip from Springdale Arkansas and then back to Springfield to the shop.

Keep the BransonZfest in mind, we hope to have 100+ cars this year.

Not anytime soon I hope, Already had one of Uncle Sam's Famous all expense paid graduation trips. Only most of my class got to do the SE Asia tour, some got to go to Germany.

I feel like people also like to go after older cars just because they know it's older. Not as easy to come by so lets thrash it. If they beat mine up I'll get another!

I hate these people who do that to cars. Sorry to hear about your Z. Like everyone else said, hopefully something better will emerge out of this. All I gotta say is. This time, you might have to refrain from letting anyone but yourself drive it.

well compassion isnt my strong suit, but couldn't see my Daughter and grandbabies being without transportation through the winter....and I seriously doubt she intended to blow it up....and frankly not her fault( I hope) that some idiot busted out the windows and slashed the tires....I believe at 53 years of age I have the wisdom and forethought to know who to and who not to loan things too..but thanks for the little tip you guys...lmao...I'll be sure to remember that when the turbo gets here next week....I guess it wolda been much simpler to let her drive my new ranger or escape...but since I had allowed the rest of my kids to drive the Z, it was my loaner car, adn none of them last forever....besides crap occurs, so be it.....not gonna be angry about it anymore and just gonna put it to rest...lol....Peace

 

I've got a 97 240sx that was perfect w48k on it when I "gave" it to my youngest daughter to drive. 2 years later the car is a total POS w99k on it. When I got it recovered I put it in storage, as far as she knows I sold it. If it hadn't been for some friends at the DEA they would have recovered it and kept it. I was told to make the car disappear and it did.

 

that sucks, i had a situation this year where some kids thought it would be funny to mess up my z for devil's night... eggs, milk... kids stuff. i got them back but they wanted to keep going and started a little paintball war on our cars. i decided i was done playing their little game and ended up getting shot about 1 inch under my eye with a tippman 98 about 5 feet away... that kinda pissed me off, lol

 

well I am trying to let my repercussions be done through law enforcement, and the chances of me finding out who vancalized mine are extreme...I seriously doubt the Sheriffs dept. here has given it a second thought since the day the report was filed...Insurance agent was a ***** and getting nada from them so changed insurance companies...I have nine vehicles I maintain and keep on the road...that should have meant someting to him...guess not...anyway...sorry to hear about all of this ...people are thoughtless...totally thoughtless I think...
