Mouse in my engine bay...
Ok, well not a real mouse, but something is indeed sqeaking in there. At around 150,000 miles the water pump locked up on me and threw a belt. Before hand the sqeak was there but I just figured it was a belt or something. So I replaced the water pump and belt but due to power stearing not working, nor a/c, I didn't even bother putting on the other 2 belts. So low and behold I start it up and would you believe it still sqeaked. Keep in mind that it's not a constant sqeak, usually only when you start it up after driving for awhile, downshifting, and sometimes with cold start ups, but not usually. Next , I decided it must be the tensioner pulley. So I went ahead and replaced the timing belt and the pulley, thinking for sure that it would sovle the mysterious sqeak problem. Don't count on it, it's still the same sqeak it's always been except it's a little more annoying since I was so sure I would have gotten rid of it by now. So anyone out there in Z land got some advice for me?
I had the EXACT same problem with my Z, and did everything you did. got the water pump and timing belt replaced, and than the squeak started. than I had the tensioner replaced. still did it. I gave up. but than my voltometer started surging all the time so I had the alternator replaced. when I got the car back the squeaking had stopped. Im not sure if it was the alternator or not but it doesnt squeak anymore. HOWEVER. the voltometer STILL surges, so I dont know whats going on.

I had a suspicion that it might be the alt. but wasn't suspecious enough to actually replace it. My volt meter reads at around 15 volts when the car is running. So I don't think that my alt. is going bad, maybe just need to shoot some grease in it or something. Ok, well thanks for the insite.

uh, oh, I hope I didn't break anything.....I went ahead and put some 10-w30 engine oil on the pulley and rod that stick out the front of the alternator. So I start up the car. Great no sqeak. I go down my 25 mph road, and no sqeak, then I get to a stop sign and give her the pedal to the metal routine. Off she goes, no sqeak. BUT THEN.......after the stop and PTM routine it is about 50 yards to a stop light. I get to the stop light and hear a constant quieter sqeak then what I originally was hearing, but there was a later model firebird to the left of me so I just thought it was his. Anyways the light turns green and I take off, just a mild take off, and it starts sqeaking like crazy louder than ever, and the only way it would stop is if I pushed in on the clutch, or didn't give it gas. I drove back home under 1700 rpms and it didn't make a noise, but do you think I could have messed up the alternator? All I did was put an some 10-w30 however it was a synthetic mix though I don't think that would matter. Ok, so thoughts and suggestions welcome.
