I bought a 88 300zx in Ca.last week. Got it home and now I can't get the hood open, any sggestions ? seems like the cable is stretched. Walter

 

Have someone hold the hood release all the way open.
While it is pulled, another person should use their fingertips or the head of a screwdriver to carefully pry the hood up. A lot of times it is just sticky and won't pop up that first little bit on its own.

PB Blaster is some awesome **** to use! Its awesome to break things free. I use it all the time. After ya break it free try to clean it all up and spray it with some white lithium grease. That stays lubed and working free through all the elements. Great stuff!

If the cable is completely broken then you have other issues. If the cable is stiff or pulls the latch but the hood won't pop, then my suggestion helps fix that.

 

Still can't get it open, cable is in tack, think latch is just frozen. will try more pb blaster..
