Hey fellow z owners
I've owned my 1987 non turbo 300zx for around 8 years now. I've done alot of work to this car these past few years. And will be doing alot more real soon. I will be getting the engine rebuilt, with a few mods added here and there. the car has 150,000 miles on it, and it still runs very strong. I change the oil every 3000 miles, perform maintenancetune-ups every 5000 miles, just got a brand new set of nitto extreme performance 215/45/z17's & tsw 17x8 silver rims. I'm going to lower it 1 inch all the way around. More to come.
Later all. J.C.

Re: Hey fellow z owners
hey
I was just wondering how the lowering went? I am running a set of P205/55R15 BFG Radial T/A rubber and the wheel gap that they created just pisses me off because it is hugh i have been trying to deciede weather or not to lower it for quite some time now and haven't been able to decide i want to drop it about 2 inchs if i do. The reason why i have been holding it off is because it already handels and runs like a dream and i don't want the ride to go to [censored]. So i am just wondering how yours went if it was definatly worth how much better it makes the car look how the ride is now that it has been lowered, etc? the other thing i want to know is that did you just cut the springs that you already had or did you bye preformance springs? If you want i would also love to exchange more ideas of mods and that with you because i got tones of ideas of stuff i want to do but i am always constantly looking for more!!!!!! you can reach me at john__maverick@hotmail.com (that is with two underscores)

Hey Mave!
There's people here in town doing that stuff too! If you wanna talk mods, come to the next VIDE meeting and we can chat, I've just done the suspension upgrade on my car, so you can see what it did and how it looks, but I"ll tell you now, the 15" rims won't cut it if you want to fill the wheel arches, my 16's aren't big enough for my tastes, I"m looking for 17"...
But anyway, hope to see you a the next meeting!
"What do you mean I need to hang on to the wheel at 100 mph?"

I haven't had a chance to lower it yet, I ran into some probs with my stereo system, (lord knows I couldn't live without my loud *** system). Had to buy a new Kenwood 300 watt amp. So i'm kinda out of car money at the moment. But I have a birthday coming up, and my wife has asked me what I want, I'm sure you can guess what I asked for (the motorsport springs, roughly $200.00 a set..} My little brother is going to put them on for a happy sack.

Re: Hey fellow z owners
ya but see the thing for me is that mine are only 4 bolts so inorder for me to go bigger i have upgrade to 5 bolts by bying a new diff and that is too expensive. I wont be able to make it out to the next meeting because i got hella midterms and am way to busy I really wanted to come but couldn't i should make the next one though just so long as you guys let me know where and when

Re: Hey fellow z owners
You actually don't need to swap the diff to do the 5 bolt upgrade, but you do have to swap the hubs from a turbo or an 86 n/a, ... I"m not sure when the next meeting is, or if we're even having another formal meeting before the new year, but we're definitely having a xmas party in December, (I'm doing the organizing), I'll keep you posted on that!
How'd you like the rally?

Re: Hey fellow z owners
the rally was good i was a little disappointed in what place i came in but it was a total last of the minuet thing for me so. I didn't have a navigator until that day so i was like oh okay then i guess i can go after all so i had to get a bunch of [censored] done but what i had never thought until i was half way up island was that i should have put the stock tires and rims back on so my speedo was hella off which sucked if it had been on we would have done so much better because we only got lost on the one stage and even then we managed to make up most of the time on it but we got dinged for the one 300. But for the most part of it was all good we got one 0 score and one 300 score and then we were late for all the checkpoints. I guess i know for next time though and hopefully i will have more time to get ready for this one because this last one i was hella rushed to get just the minor things done on time.

Re: Hey fellow z owners
Yeah I hear ya, I didn't realize that my new tires have a lower profile than my old ones, even though they are the same size, so I had to correct by about 15% for all my speeds and odo checks!!?!?! AUGH! But it's cool you came out, I hope you come back in the new year when the next series starts! Have you thought about trying slaloms in your car?
