Help with antennae
O.k., I broke down and bought aftermarket Kenwood system, still trying to get the original radio repaired. Install went great, was able to attach antennae switch to face plate. Used original harness back to car, now antennae won't go up or down, it clicks when you press the switch up or down but that is all.
Any suggestions. Would really love to keep the antennae, but looks like an aftermarket if I am to listen to radio.

If it clicks over and over thats the clutch youll have to remove it ,try to free up and if the mast is tweaked , aftermarket is the way to go...now.
unless you want to pull t up manually (cut the cable)
.I have the small bendable aftermarket style

Did you ever see the antenna work? In other words, did you know it went up before or not?
I replaced my mast took 15 minutes ..SOunds like the cable broke off inside the motor. You take it out and open the box.
Take the broken part out. Put it back together, back in the car..then you feed the cable down the hole. A few tries will get it done.
Watch videos on YouTube about replacing masts..it is the same.
Keep the original antenna! Mast should be about 15-20 dollars.

I put a separate posting out there but regarding your OEM radio replacement. I am currently working with a vender who believes that can fix a lot of the OEM issue with these radios. Mine is OEM, radio works great but cassette shuts power to radio off as soon as you put a tape in. Collecting my part# so I can confirm with them but look for my posting I put out there yesterday if you are interested in what I find regarding your factory OEM radio.
Company name is called United Radio #800-634-8606. This company was referred to me by several other repair specialist who indicated they would not be able to repair but felt if anyone could United could.
