So I have an 84 non turbo with the digital dash. My car since I bought it has not had a working fuel gauge, my tank always says 5 gallons whether I fill it up or it’s completely empty. When it gets really low sometimes it says “E” but not every time. Not this biggest issue on my todo list for the car but definitely an inconvenience, anyone experience this problem and know how to trouble shoot it?

 

The fuel gauge sending unit in the gas tank goes bad on these cars. Mine went bad back in the mid 1990's. I believe the sending unit is digital vs analog dash specific. And I also believe the digital one is NLA
