well i baught my frst z and as a project car none the less. been working most of the bugs out of it but i have one that just wont go away. i have an 87 300zx and when i start it upin nuetral it works great but when you rev it up over 4000rpms or push the breaks all of my warning lights come on and it stops charging the battery.also at any point during driving it happens. this problem went away when i connected a wire in the back hatch but then it started happening again any help would be greatly appreciated
have replaced the alternator so it isnt that?
also adding that once the car is turned off then back on all lights go out and it runs normally untill it happens again

 

Have or havnt replaced? I would talk the alternator and go get it tested, along with the battery just to be safe. If those 2 pass you might have a wiring issue

 

replaced both battery and alt. the wiring doesnt look bad at all, connections are solid on the back of alt andit works fine some times. any idea where i should check on the wiring?

 

Hmm... Did you check the ground cables?Id check the one that goes from the alternator to the battery

 

just took them off then cleaned them cliped the ends put new terminals on. old ones where a little worn. reved up to 2500 rpms fine went to 2000 then back up to 2500 cause my car whines if you dont do it prob cause of new belts, then next thing i know all the lights came back on.could it be a ground somewhere else in the car other than alt? thnx for your help too

 

Weird. Sounds like something is shorting out, somewhere.
