Can anyone recommend a good book with instructions on painting. I know there are a bunch to be found, but has anyone used one that details the whole process? From removing old paint, body work, prepping, painting, clear coating, color sanding, requirements for garage, etc. I'm looking for a book that covers everything. Thanks.

Hi AZ-Zbum----------I wish I could help you out with your query------but yes you are correct that there are tons of books out there with this info-------------but to be honest most either just give you the basics or lead you in the wrong direction--------Unfortunately with our wonderful EPA paints and clear coats are an ever-changing mystery----------Just when you get the hang of a certain type, brand, flow rates and mixes the EPA or the paint company changes everything to meet the newest standards-------------For example-------just a month ago one of my favorite primers became illegal for use in CA-----------guess what that means--------time to find another one as close to the one that just vanished----------and time to learn the new ones abilities and weaknesses..........

As for suggestions-----------the only suggestion I can give you is to make friends with someone in the paint and body shop business so you can get tips and pointers............I have been lucky since my mentor when it comes to painting has been doing this line of work for 40+ yrs----------
