I have a 1985 300 ZX (non-turbo) w/digital instrumentation. The battery has died twice in the last two weeks, and I have to recharge it. I read somewhere that a person had a similar problem and had to replace their light switch stalk. Any other answers?

 

Is your alternator working properly? Make sure your alternator is returning the charge sufficiently before you do anything else.

 

The alternator is working fine. In fact, I had just replaced the battery, then left for four days and when I came back the battery was totally dead. There were no interior lights left on or any other detectable lights that I could see. This is why I believe I have a "mystery" power bleed in the system somewhere. I use to park the Z for two weeks at a time (I know it's cruel, but I ride the bus) and it would start right up, no problemo. I am thinking it may be in the light switch stalk, because periodically when I turn off the car, my "girl" talks to me and says the "lights are on" when the lights are down and off. Anyone else have problems with the light switch stalk?
